Some basic medical history first… I want to share with everyone what my starting health issues are at the start of my journey. As of today of age 54, I have End-Stage Renal Failure (Kidney’s are shot), I don’t make much urine to allow my body to filter like a healthy man. Because of Renal Failure, I have to perform Dialysis everyday in order to remove fluid from my body. With Renal Failure it also comes with High Blood Pressure. So that means lots of meds that do not help my situation. On top of that my Hemoglobin (HGB) goes up and down like a roller coaster, and needs adjusted constantly. To keep it simple, Hemoglobin allows oxygenated blood to be carried throughout your body. Low HGB makes you tired and sluggish. When it’s really low, I find myself gasping for air when sleeping. Enough to wake you up. The effects seem to be less when I sleep on my side vs on my back. Lately it’s been 10-11 which is pretty good for a Dialysis patient.
So I’m starting from a poor position when it comes to ED. Kidney Failure, High Blood Pressure with meds, and Cholesterol, which also requires meds. If you don’t have these issues, congratulations. I highly recommend you check your BP daily. What can happen is if you are unaware, your body adjusts from long term high blood pressure over time. The problem occurs when the systolic pressure is higher than 200+. What happens is it can scar your organs. In my case it scarred my kidneys. Had I been monitoring from age 45, I would have seen it was high, and visited a cardiologist much sooner. Just a simple thing like checking blood pressure could have saved my kidneys. Hindsight is 20/20. Regardless, I HIGHLY recommend you check your BP once a day to help prevent this from happening to YOU!
